The Ringwood Field Naturalists Club (RFNC) is a warm, welcoming community of nature lovers based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. We share a passion for Australian natural history in all its forms—from flora, fauna, fungi, and geology to marine life and ecology.

Everyone is welcome. Whether you’re an experienced naturalist, a keen photographer, a student, or someone who simply enjoys spending time outdoors and learning something new, you belong here. No prior knowledge or qualifications are needed—just curiosity and an appreciation for the natural world!

Our primary aim is to foster a friendly, safe, and collaborative space where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can enjoy, learn about, and protect nature together. We foster a respectful, encouraging space where questions are always welcomed and shared knowledge is celebrated.

To cater to our diverse community, we offer a rich program that includes:

  • Monthly Meetings & Guest Speakers: Informative talks spanning varied environmental topics.
  • Excursions & Field Trips: Guided walks with a focus on shared observation, learning, and enjoyment at a relaxed pace.
  • Weekends Away: Opportunities to explore unique natural landscapes across Victoria together.
